(v.5) "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."
Now for that small, yet very significant word "but"...
(vs. 6-8) "BUT let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways."
I have either overlooked or ignored verses 6-8 in the past. I certainly never applied them to my prayer life in any significant way. I am not sure if I even know what it means to "ask in faith, with no doubting." God has helped me a ton over the past several months to trust Him more, but NO doubting? Not even a little bit? That's hard for me.
Almighty God, help me to trust You, fully.
